Biogeographic distribution

The genus Haliclona is located worldwide in tropical and sub tropical reef systems and mangroves (Soest 2012). Species of sponge from the genus Haliclona in Australia are located all along the Australian coast. Haliclona spp. investigated in this webpage was located in Shark Bay on the south-east side of Heron Island.
